About:
Jess Day is an artist, technician, and writer based in Perth, Western Australia. Day’s practice investigates wilderness concepts, prepping culture, conflict & othering, and non-linear narratives. Since graduating from Curtin University with Honours in Fine Art, Day has exhibited at Another ARI, and Curtin University, Heathcote Museum and Gallery, Firstdraft, Politzia, MOANA Project Space, and Fremantle Arts Centre.
Day has written articles for Art Monthly, NAVA, Semaphore & Snakehair press.
Jess Day is a recipient of Curtin University's Art in Conflict PhD Stipend Scholarship. Day joined the Art in Conflict Team in January 2019 and is currently researching the relationship between institutional anticipatory preparedness, futuring, and highly individuated preparedness, or ‘prepping culture’.
The Art in Conflict Stipend Scholarship is funded by the School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry at Curtin University as part of the university's contribution to the Art in Conflict Linkage project.
